San Antonio, Texas

My friend Jessica and I attended a conference called “Align,” and it was in San Antonio, TX, this year. We stayed at the Hilton right on the River Walk. Since we flew in and Ubered to the hotel, staying right on the River Walk was really convenient because we could easily walk to many places to eat. Plus, the restaurant in the lobby had a nice breakfast as well.
Tex-Mex is the popular thing in this area of town. We ate it about 3 times and also enjoyed an Italian place 2 nights as well. I have found that when traveling to larger cities that are known for their food spots, the gluten-free options are more plentiful. Everywhere we ate was pretty close to the Hilton on the River Walk.
The first night we arrived, we had dinner at Rita’s on the River, and I got the beef enchilada plate with rice and beans.

At Iron Cactus, I had this grilled steak and romaine salad. It was very good!

I cannot remember the name of the Italian restaurant we went to, but it was on the corner right behind the Hilton. We loved it so much we ate there 2 times.

This was a skillet frittata I ordered every morning at the restaurant in the hotel. Was a veggie one and was so good!

After the conference was over, we took an Uber to the Pearl District. You must take a stroll through Hotel Emma! It’s like a walk back in time. They also have a really cool bar in there. We ate at yet another Tex-Mex restaurant, The Carriqui, while in the Pearl District, and I had this very spicy chicken tortilla soup.

Definitely a cool area to visit with lots of food options!
